Chrysoula Zacharopoulou

Hon’ble Minister of State for Development, Francophonie, and International Partnerships, Government of the French Republic & Co-President of the International Solar Alliance

French and Greek nationalities, she graduated from Sapienza University in Rome and earned a PhD in endometriosis. Dr Zacharopoulou has been practicing as a gynecological surgeon at Bégin Military Hospital in France since 2007. A staunch advocate for the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls, she co-founded the "Info-Endométriose" association with actor Julie Gayet. In 2016, she initiated the first national awareness campaign on endometriosis, targeting both health professionals and the public. Elected to the European Parliament in 2019, Dr Zacharopoulou became Vice-Chair of the Committee on Development. She played a pivotal role as the European Parliament's rapporteur for the new EU-Africa strategy, contributing to the development of a lasting, inclusive partnership between the two continents.
