Founded in 2015, during the COP21 in Paris
Member Countries are supported in achieving sustainable energy goals
Empowering startups to drive local energy innovation
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a global intergovernmental organisation dedicated to accelerating the deployment of solar energy as a pathway to energy access, energy security, and sustainable development. Established in 2015 as a joint initiative of India and France on the sidelines of the COP21 Paris Climate Conference, ISA was created to mobilise collective action against climate change through the widespread adoption of solar energy solutions.
Today, ISA has evolved into a global platform for international cooperation on solar energy. Following an amendment to its Framework Agreement in 2020, membership is open to all Member States of the United Nations, enabling countries across the world to collaborate in accelerating solar deployment.
Our Mission
Our Mission
To accelerate global solar deployment by ensuring delivery through actionable platforms that mobilise finance, support policy and investment, strengthen capacity and scale implementation across Member Countries.
Our Vision
Our Vision
The International Solar Alliance envisions a world where solar energy powers sustainable and inclusive development. The Alliance seeks to harness the power of solar energy to support low-carbon growth pathways and improve the quality of life across its Member Countries.

Mobilising blended finance and risk mitigation instruments to unlock private investment and scale solar projects across emerging markets

Strengthening solar ecosystems through innovation, digital tools, training, and entrepreneurship to build the skills and solutions required for large-scale solar adoption

Working closely with Member Countries to identify priorities, develop country partnerships, and scale solar programmes aligned with national energy transitions

Providing global analytics, policy guidance, and technology roadmaps to support informed decision-making and accelerate solar integration
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an action-oriented, member-driven, collaborative platform for increased deployment of solar energy technologies as a means for bringing energy access, ensuring energy security, and driving energy transition in its Member Countries.
The International Solar Alliance was conceived as a joint effort by India and France to mobilize efforts against climate change through deployment of solar energy solutions. It was conceptualized on the sidelines of the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Paris in 2015. With the amendment of its Framework Agreement in 2020, all member states of the United Nations are now eligible to join the ISA. At present, 119 countries are signatories to the ISA Framework Agreement, of which 99 countries have submitted the necessary instruments of ratification to become full members of the ISA.
