Overview
One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG) Programme on Regional and Global Interconnections is a flagship initiative of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) designed to foster the cross-border transmission and trade of clean and affordable electricity. This initiative aims to develop a regional and global network of interconnected electricity grids across regions and continents, enabling the sharing of surplus renewable electricity and strengthening energy security among participating countries. By integrating diverse power systems, the programme harnesses the complementary nature of renewable resources across time zones — ensuring that solar energy and other renewable energy generated in one region can meet demand in another. This collaborative framework supports a broader vision of One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG), which was announced by Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, in the first Assembly of ISA.

Objectives
The programme seeks to create a global and regional electricity transmission network that connects countries across continents, allowing them to trade cleaner and cheaper electricity in a sustainable manner over a wide geographical area. By linking solar and renewable energy generation and consumption across different time zones, the initiative enables the continuous flow of renewable energy, taking advantage of the fact that the sun is always shining somewhere in the world. It aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, lower energy costs, increase energy affordability, enhance energy security, and ensure equitable and affordable access to sustainable electricity for all through the development of OSOWOG Super Grid.

One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG) Programme on Regional and Global Interconnections will pave the way for a global renewable energy grid that links multiple regions across Far East to Far West with India at the fulcrum, time zones, facilitating greater solar power and renewable energy utilisation and shared access to clean energy. By building interconnected power systems, the initiative enhances electricity grid stability, security, reliability, and flexibility, while reducing carbon emissions and optimising renewable energy integration. It also strengthens regional and international energy cooperation and collaboration, creating new opportunities for innovation, investment, and inclusive growth in the global clean energy landscape.
Alignment with ISA Vision
This programme directly aligns with ISA’s mission to promote universal access to clean, affordable, and sustainable energy. By connecting solar and renewable energy-rich regions with high-demand zones, it embodies the spirit of One Sun One World One Grid — a transformative vision where solar energy transcends borders to power a greener, more resilient, sustainable and prosperous world for all.
