Solarizing Heating and Cooling Systems

To facilitate solarizing of growing heating and cooling demand from commercial, industrial, and residential sectors in Member Countries

Our Approach

Develop a knowledge portfolio for Member Countries that includes global best practices related to technological advancements, policy and regulatory guidelines, market potential, business models, and current challenges and opportunities. This portfolio should also identify a pipeline of projects and business models to facilitate the scaling of solar-powered heating and cooling systems in Member Countries.

Latest Achievements /Updates

ISA is currently concentrating on several key initiatives. These include enhancing the cold chain infrastructure for vaccine and domestic refrigeration and improving food preservation methods. Additionally, ISA is focusing on the building sector, with efforts directed towards residential, collective, and district heating and cooling systems. Another area of emphasis is productive uses and industrial processes, where ISA is working on advancements in drying technologies, steam production, desalination techniques, and cooling solutions. These initiatives reflect ISA's commitment to addressing crucial challenges and promoting sustainable development in various sectors.

Success Stories

Under its Demonstration Projects initiative, ISA has successfully implemented Solar Cold Storage projects in four member countries—Djibouti, Senegal, Seychelles, and Bhutan. ISA has actively engaged in knowledge sharing and capacity building among its members through workshops, seminars, and webinars through collaboration with knowledge partners. Responding to requests from several Member Countries, ISA is currently working to facilitate the development of Solar Cold Storage systems capable of operating in sub-zero temperatures.
