Assembly
The Assembly of the ISA is the apex decision-making body which deliberates on critical matters like ISA objectives, its functioning, approval of operating budget, assessment of the implementation of various initiatives, programmes and activities of ISA and others. Annually, Member Country representatives exercise votes to decide crucial matters, with non-voting participants like Observers, Prospective Member Countries, Partner Organizations, and Special Invitees present. The ISA Framework Agreement allows special Assembly meetings under unique circumstances, ensuring flexibility in governance processes.

Committees
ISA has five committees – the Standing Committee and four Regional Committees – to provide strategic
advice and
guidance on ISA’s functioning and facilitate the implementation of its various
programmes, projects, and activities.
Standing Committee
The Standing Committee is responsible and accountable to the Assembly. It promotes collaboration among Members; approves Assembly session arrangements and agendas; presents ISA’s annual work plan, budget and annual reports to the Assembly; advises on programme implementation; and recommends matters with significant financial implications to the Assembly for consideration.

The Regional Committees are responsible and accountable to the Assembly and provide the forum for regional coordination of views on matters related to the Assembly. There are two Vice Presidents from each region.

appropriate steps are taken to
follow up the Assembly decisions
and to coordinate
